{"id":509636,"date":"2024-12-04T00:01:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-04T05:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spacenews.com\/?p=509636"},"modified":"2024-12-03T23:24:04","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T04:24:04","slug":"with-new-funding-fibrecoat-targets-space-and-defense-markets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spacenews.com\/with-new-funding-fibrecoat-targets-space-and-defense-markets\/","title":{"rendered":"With new funding, FibreCoat targets space and defense markets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN FRANCISCO \u2013 German materials technology startup FibreCoat raised nearly 20 million euros ($21 million) in a Series B funding round announced Dec. 4.<\/p><p>NewSpace Capital and Goose Capital jointly led the funding round.<\/p><p>\u201cWith our latest round of investment, FibreCoat will apply the insights gained from terrestrial applications of our material to work with the space industry,\u201d FibreCoat CEO Robert Br\u00fcll told <em>SpaceNews<\/em> by email. Space-related applications include radiation shielding, temperature regulation and reducing the weight of satellites, he added.<\/p><p>Prior to establishing the company in 2020, FibreCoat\u2019s founders patented methods for coating fibers with metals and plastics based on research and development at RWTH Aachen University\u2019s Institute for Textile Technology, where they worked.<\/p><p>FibreCoat offers products that \u201ccombine the properties of different materials in a single high-speed production step,\u201d Br\u00fcll said. The resulting fibers are \u201cstrong, conductive, recyclable and affordable,\u201d he added.<\/p><p>To date, automotive and construction customers have adopted FibreCoat products.
